Category: A-Z Weekly Memory Verses and Hymns

F is for…

If you are a GMK follower you should already have this week’s verse memorized.
I quote it weekly under Psalm 113:3 Moments. Unfortunately I wasn’t taking pictures of the sunsets this week because the photo memory on my iphone is completely full! So here’s a sunset pic from a few months ago I found while deleting hundreds of other sunsets from my phone.

F is for… “From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!” Psalm 113:3

Hymn of the Week: “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” (Beethoven/Van Dyke)

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee.

E is for…

This weeks memory verse: E is for…
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” -James 1:17

Hymn of the Week: I Sing the Almighty Power of God (Watts)
(Don’t forget to share your favorite hymns with us by clicking on the
“Hooray for Hymns” icon at the top of the homepage and leaving a comment.)

“I sing the almighty power of God that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at His command and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food;
He formed the creatures with His word and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed where e’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread or gaze upon the sky!

There’s not a plant or flower below but makes Thy glories known;
And clouds arise and tempests blow by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care,
And every where that man can be, Thou, God, art present there.”

Hymn for Week 5

“The Heavens Declare Thy Glory, Lord” Watts/Mason

The heavens declare Thy glory, Lord; In every star Thy wisdom shines;
but when our eyes behold Thy Word, we read Thy name in fairer lines.

The rolling sun, the changing light, and night and day, Thy power confess;
But the blest volume Thou hast writ reveals Thy justice and Thy grace.

Sun, moon, and stars convey Thy praise round the whole earth and never stand;
So when Thy truth began its race, it touched and glanced on every land.

Nor shall Thy spreading gospel rest till through the world Thy truth has run;
Till Christ has all the nations blest that see the light, or feel the sun.
