Week 11

Memory Verse: Revelation 21:22,23

Reading #1: Genesis 15:7-20

Questions: What might be the significance of the “smoking fire pot and a flaming torch” passing between the animal halves?  What does the Lord promise the still-slumbering Abraham?

Reading #2: Exodus 12:1-28

Questions: What purpose did the blood of the lamb serve?  According to verse 11, in what manner were the Israelites to eat the Passover meal?  According to verse 23 what was the Lord going to do to the Egyptians? What were the Israelites to do when they entered the land promised to Abraham?

Reading #3: 1 Peter 1:12-25

Questions: Instead of being dressed for action like the Israelites, how does Peter encourage us to be prepared in verse 12?  According to verses 18-21, with what knowledge should we prepare our minds?  What does it do to your own mind to think that the plan of Christ, the Passover lamb, was put in place “before the foundation of the world?”

Reading #4: Revelation 5

Questions: Backing up to chapter 4, verses 9-11, what is the response of “the four living creatures and twenty four elders” to the Lamb, by who’s will all things were created and continue to exist? In verse 13, what is the response of every creature in heaven and on earth?  What is your response when you read a passage like this?

Psalms and Hymns

Beneath the Cross of Jesus “I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place; I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of your face.

Near the Cross “Near the cross, a trembling soul, lover and mercy found me; There the Bright and Morning Star sheds its beams around me.”
